Replace passenger side air bags through the glove box or main dash panels. Remove the glove box by taking off the glove box straps and undoing the hinges. Unplug and unbolt the airbag, slide it out the front of the dash, slide the new air bag in and rewire and rebolt it. Put the glove box or dash panels back together.
on my MK3 my airbag light came on. The only 2 fixes I was able to find was take it to the Stealer and pay 100.00 for a reset, or hook it up to a Vag and clear the code. You need an actual vagcom (not the program and the cheap ebay cable), then on the airbag tab there is a reset option I think.
Subtract the relay removal and jumper wire. Subtract rewiring the airbag plug. You're only removing the driver's airbag, and than the steering wheel to gain access to the clockspring. Several recent Volkswagen models share a similar way to reset the service light. The following steps should work for the VW Passat, Jetta, Tiguan, and others. 1: Turn off the ignition. 2: Press and hold the 0.0 button on the instrument cluster and turn on the ignition.
Highly unlikely. Airbag lights don't reset after they've been triggered. Only way to clear it is via vag-com. I have the same DTC coming from the driver's seat although mine are for different reasons.
